UTPB hosts a variety of events

April 26—Wolfcamp Catalog, a solo exhibition of new work by Amy Kim, will have an opening reception from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.
Kim is a lecturer and director of the Nancy Fyfe Cardozier Gallery. The show is part of the UTPB Geoscience Symposium and the exhibit will take place in the Wolfcamp Exhibit Caravan outside the main entrance of the UTPB Engineering Building, 1310 N. FM 1788 in Midland .
This exhibit was sponsored by UTPB Geoscience, College of Arts and Sciences, and UTPB Office of Research and Sponsored Projects. Kevin Chua (PhD), associate professor of art history at Texas Tech University, curated the exhibit.
The Fifth Annual Geoscience Symposium will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday in the Henry Lecture Hall on the first floor of the UTPB Engineering Building.
Keynote speakers are David Cannon, Senior Vice President of Diamondback Energy and Denise Cox, President of Storm Energy.
The Ballet Folklórico spring show is scheduled for Friday. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. at the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center.
To kick off the Cinco De Mayo season, the UTPB Ballet Folklorico team will demonstrate the traditions of Mexico through colors, music and dance. The event is free and open to the community.
The grand opening of the Basin Sports Complex & Kite Fest will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Community Sports Fields off the 338 Loop.
There will be games, food trucks, prizes, and more. Additionally, the UTPB Student Government Association will be hosting Kite Fest on the grounds. The event is free and open to the community.
