Safe cleaning is at your doorstep

Douglas County Health Department Launches Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Program
If you have paint from a recent project, old oil from car maintenance, or other hazardous waste from your recent DIY experience, the Douglas County Health Department can help you get rid of it safely.
In lieu of a one-time annual event, the Douglas County Health Department partners with Waste Management to provide Douglas County residents with a low-cost, year-round household hazardous waste removal service. This direct service is available to residents of Douglas County for $30. Get details by calling 1-800-449-7587. For other waste disposal resources, visit our webpage.
Toxic household products can be harmful to pets, wildlife, sanitation workers, our health, and the environment if flushed down drains, toilets, or storm drains, or thrown in the trash. Safe disposal of household hazardous waste protects our families, protects our water quality, saves landfill space and reduces illegal dumping.
This service is provided by the Environmental Health Division of the Douglas County Health Department. Environmental health focuses on the prevention of foodborne illnesses in restaurants; prevent the spread of communicable diseases in child care centres, body art facilities and water supply systems; and mitigate other environmental conditions that may be harmful to your health.
