Meet the tattoo artist behind Tony Bellew’s ‘Bomber’ inking who impresses celebrities with body art
A British tattoo artist has made a name for himself with his super realistic celebrity portraits.
His breathtaking work even inspired the props of one of his hip heroes – Ice Cube.
And Andy Cassidy, who runs Mr Cee Tattooz in Liverpool, has inked some celebrities as well, including former boxer Tony Bellew.
In an exclusive interview with the Daily Star, Andy, 50, said: “Portraits are a nightmare.
“I really lost sleep the night before I did some. Ink sweats are the worst!
“To me, they are the ultimate tattoo because you either do them right or you don’t.
“I have now done more celebrities than non-celebrities.”
Despite his pre-inking anxiety, Andy produced spectacular results.
After finishing a portrait of Ice Cube, the rap artist himself tweeted, “You’re not kidding. One of the best I have ever seen.
Andy said, “Ice T and Ice Cube both shared and commented on my portraits, both of which are some of my biggest hip hop idols, which puts me on a cloud every time.
“I would like to think that I made a bit of a name for myself locally for Hip Hop.
“Ice Cube is my favorite, the eyes are really dominant and you have to do them right, a little bit of shading in the wrong place and it’s over.
“Tupac is perhaps the most stressful, he’s an icon and everyone knows what he looks like, so yeah, a lot of pressure there.”
Andy is also a huge Everton fan and was fortunate enough to work on a portrait of Duncan Ferguson.
He said he would like to personally tattoo the former blues hardman, but joked that he might be “too scared” to do so.
Andy also inked the famous “Bomber” tattoo on the shoulders of former World Champion and Evertonion colleague Tony Bellew.
He said: “Tony is a really good guy. I have been fortunate enough to have been able to tattoo it several times.
Despite running his shop in Aigburth Road, Liverpool, his work has seen other stars from overseas come to him.
Andy, who has been tattooing since 2010, said, “I was fortunate enough to spend some time tattooing Public Enemy, The Juice Crew and Boyd from Mobb Deep.
“They are all great guys and even though I turned 50 I still become a huge fan boy when I’m around them.
“It’s very strange to be in the same room with your musical heroes.”
