I spent over $ 110,000 on tattoos for my body and I don’t regret a dime
Mom has spent over $ 110,000 on tattoos and has lost count of how many she has.
Ever since Lisa-Marie was a little girl, she always dreamed of being different and standing out from the crowd.
And the 37-year-old mom has most certainly achieved that in the past two decades.
After years of admiring tattoos from afar, she bit the bullet and got her first piece of body art when she was just 14.

Mom spends $ 110,000 on tattoos and has no regrets
âI have always been different from others. I guess my inspiration was me. I wanted permanent memories on my body. I wanted to see them every day, âexplained Lisa-Marie.
âMy first tattoo was from a Dru Hill album cover. It was a dragon on my right buttock so my dad would never see it.
After spending the equivalent of over AUD $ 110,000 over the years, the Canadian has no idea how many tattoos she has all over her body.
“I lost count of my tattoos after the first three – the panels are all blending into each other now,” she admitted.
âThe longest tattoo was absolutely my back – I think we ran about 30 hours out of seven sessions on it. The most painful was my leg – the hamstrings in particular.
Lisa-Marie then hopes to complete her collection with a moose tattoo on her stomach.

“I was ashamed of my tattooed body when I was pregnant”
Of course, daring to be different always comes at a price, even with some of her family and friends expressing their displeasure with her inked body.
âMy friends and family think I’m a little wild – I’m a little bit on the outside with them all,â she explained.
“I remember vividly that once a woman in her 50s wouldn’t let me serve her table because of my appearance.”
And she also didn’t escape being humiliated by strangers in public when she was pregnant.
âI asked a lady to come over to me in the mall while I was pregnant, saying, ‘Do you think what you’ve been doing to your body looks good?’ “
The dating scene also proved to be hard work.
âI find that a lot of men are not very attracted to face and neck tattoos and sometimes my torso is a huge inconvenience to them as well,â she explained.
âI found out that I had to stick with men with the same number of tattoos or a comparable number. Most men without a tattoo or with minimal tattoos have a harder time accepting it, I guess you could say.

“My toddler loves my heavily tattooed body”
However, it was not all an uphill battle. In 2005, Lisa-Marie was spotted as a model thanks to her inked look.
Most importantly, her number one fan is her two-year-old daughter Royal-Marie.
âMy daughter doesn’t know much because she’s only two, but she colors my tattoos and likes to wear sticker versions, so that’s super cool,â Lisa-Marie added.
“I will encourage her to be herself and make her own decisions in which direction she wishes to travel and I hope I have guided her on a beautiful path of her own.”
But her toddler is not her only support.
âA lot of people really admire all the artwork, time and dedication it takes to get heavily tattooed,â she said.
“My advice to anyone considering getting a tattoo is to make sure you love and trust your artist.”
