Helena Paparizou announces the reunion of Antique
Pleasant musical memories of the past were awakened by Helena Paparizou’s enigmatic announcement on social media about Antique’s reunion.
Indeed, she will find Nikos Panagiotidis, the man with whom she took her first big steps in her musical career.
The high point of their cooperation was in 2001 when they came third in Eurovision.
She may have left a veil of mystery to cover the subject, writing on Instagram only the word “reunion”, without giving further details, but Proto Thema learned of the plans, including this musical reunion which has already been hosted enthusiastically by the public.
The new collaboration between Helena Paparizou and Nikos Panagiotidis was born from a proposal from Sweden, the country where they were born and raised.
The two have agreed to do a joint tour in different cities in Sweden this summer, whose audiences have met and loved them together. However, there is no prospect, for the moment at least, of organizing a joint concert on Greek soil.
Nevertheless, Greek audiences will have the opportunity to appreciate them in a new duet, which should be released in April, with Helena and Nikos joining their voices in a song – surprise, a Greek success of the 90s which, however, does not come from their own directory.
Let’s not forget, moreover, that through adaptations of favorite Greek songs they made themselves known shortly before the arrival of the new millennium.
It’s been 23 years since the beautiful girl with long braided hair and her young friend and collaborator took over Greek entertainment with a cover of the insurgent song “Opa Opa” which combined modern dance music.
Just two years later, these two children from the diaspora who grew up in Sweden but carried the flame of their Greek origin within them, will be thrown into the Eurovision arena and take home the impressions.
Helena shines in her white backless bodysuit, with a deep neckline and magnetizes the eyes as she rocks to the rhythms of “Die for you”, while Nikos Panagiotidis gives the Greek flair by playing the bouzouki.
Coming third was the best place Greece had ever taken in the history of the competition, a success that no one dared to predict.
Upon their return to Athens, they tasted the love of the world and the sweetness of success and continued to record songs together for another two years.
One of them, the “New Love”, turns out to be prophetic. Not because a third person is involved in their collaboration but because the time has come for Helena to follow a personal musical path.
It is a journey that will take her to the top of Europe since she will succeed, with the impressive presentation of the song “Number One”, in bringing the Eurovision Cup back to Greece for the first time.
Years passed and their artistic paths separated, but these two who started together, shyly, making songs and dreaming, never forgot that “together” was what made them stand out. .
That’s why Antique’s reunion, two decades later, is a “gift” both to themselves and to the audiences who met and loved them as a duo.
