News of the passing of Margaret McElligott (Nee McGrath, Coolaclarig), Coolard last Wednesday, caused great sadness in the region. Margaret, who had suffered from poor health for some time, was a very elegant woman, always bright and cheerful and who smiled on everyone. She had a keen interest in horse racing, racing, etc. and would look forward to Listowel Harvest’s annual meeting this week and the start of the racing season at Kilflynn next weekend. His popularity was evidenced at the large gathering at St. Therese Church on Saturday as the funeral procession arrived for mass and again as he left for internment at Gale cemetery. Sympathy is extended to her husband, Johnny, her sons, Sean and Jerry, her daughter, Valerie, her sisters, Mary and Sr Noreen (New Zealand), her brothers, Paddy, Peter, Tom, Bill and Jerry and their extended families, neighbors and a large circle of friends. Margaret was the daughter of the late Peter and Joan, Coolaclarig and was predeceased by her brother, Johnny. May she rest in peace.
